A Delta
Airlines Boeing 747 aircraft from New York which was bound for Tel Aviv,
turned around at the last minute on Tuesday after a rocket reportedly
landed near Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport.
In the
aftermath of the incident, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on
Tuesday issued a ban prohibiting all American air carriers from
making flights to Israel “for a period of up to 24 hours,” Daily Mail reports.
The agency
said it would continue to monitor the situation, and that “updated
instructions will be provided to U.S. airlines as soon as conditions
permit, but no later than 24 hours” from the time the ban was enforced.
